Book Print

I know you liked the simple "Girl in Bed Reading" for "Reads Past Her Bedtime."

We're getting a mixed review here at the studio. Terry likes the simple version you like, but that's about it. Everyone else just sort of turns up their nose toward it.

That's why I decided to do another take. This version is a lot more traditional, more stately. It's easy to picture it for sale in a little bookstore. But it is somewhat expected.

We may not need to introduce another book print at this time... looking at sales, we have two book prints that doing quite well on their own. Maybe we introduce something else and save the book print for later?

More Pet OT's

Neither of these are getting a good response. They're OK, but staid and a bit boring.

Dog/Cat Loungesets

Here's a couple of variations on a loungeset idea.

One takes Mare's "Dogs Rule" concept and revisits the art style. Bold, simple, bright. Easy to print. With this approach, we can design coordinating pants.

The Cat pants would have the cat face (with crown, though it's not shown here); the dog would have the dog face.

Of course, this means more screens, more inventory.

Another option is to use your paw prints suggestion. With one set of film, we can do 2 pair of 3 color pants. This will give the collection a nice richness; the bright colors are pretty irresistible in the showroom.

Or, we can simply do one pair of pants. We could use the green pants -- they will coordinate with both tops.

Dog/Cat OT's - She Who Artwork Take

She Who lives!

I took some artwork from the She Who prints, tweaked some things, and developed this second idea.

It's much more toned down and reserved, and more like our usual prints. Still, everyone has reacted positively.

But, does it have that emotional connection?

Dog/Cat OT's - Bold Graphic Take

Everyone tells me these resemble a set of prints we did in 2000.

Still, everyone is drawn to them and reacts positively. They're LOUD!

To help drive home the statement "I'm a sucker for a wet nose," we'll do a glitter on the nose (perhaps with some puff?) to make the noses look shiny.

Beachy Keen Flamingo

Here's a more beachy take on the Flamingo.

One has flip flops; the other doesn't.

Pet Set Dog

After much discussion the AOP with the pets photos on it we decided was just to risky to try with overseas printing with our current vendor. When Claudia and Shelley first saw the two prints they loved the version with the crowns and type banners. This version is the one we are going with, I worked it over from the one shown here, it has more crowns and less banners.

I have done more tees with different animals, we are still deciding on which one or ones to print. I love the border collie, it is just kind of every dog. The dalmatian is just too iconic. These are not the final animals shown here just place holders.

My home studio

The glass top table is my drawing table, LOVE. The computer table is metal that I just painted green. I love this space, it is wonderful to work in! Thought you might get a kick out of seeing it, it is so much better in person.

In the huge red cabinet I have some of my vintage metal picnic baskets that hold all my craft and art supplies.

Latest Versions of Pop Art Pets

The colors are much better than they appear here. Do any of the tee versions do anything for you?

Pet Tees

Some other fun ideas. I still prefer the pop art take on it. But these could go in the line of 6 or so fun womens tees I am working on.

Another Pet Idea

I drew cats on a prissy pillow, they aren't shown here. The dog of course would be sleeping as well, not as shown here. This is cute, but seemed like a bit more of the same. Could sell well. I still like the pop art pets better.

After thinking about this idea, I am going to push it through and see where it ends up. We like it.

Dog tee with a frame

Well, do we like the frames!? I am working at home and everyone here has really liked the fanciful one on the left.

Queen Products

Dave and I took a hard look the Queen products the way they were and we just hate the white women's tee shirt and the AOP was good but just not fresh enough. We have this light purple sleeper in house. So we would just have the tee and sleeper in this section. We would like to move away from white for women's tees. We would use this purple tee in the women's tees as well.

They feel fresher and more modern on the color, Claudia has a technique that she is excited about, she thinks they will look really beautiful. I was also talking to claudia saying it would be nice to get the darker purple on the tee in the art on the sleeper so the two coordinate more.

Resource for Cat and Dog Products

This is the resource I found that got me going on the cat and dog take.

Cat and Dog Products

I drew and drew cats and dogs, did some nice stuff but it just felt like a lot of the same. So I came up with these pop art cats and dogs. We love them! The cat is not final, just a place holder. They would say on them "Cats Rule" and "Dogs Rule". The tee art I am still working out. I am going to try some ornate borders around the animals. These AOP patterns would be the only new on the line. We pulled the queen AOP, just wasn't fresh enough.

The sleepers to match would be the same colors as the tees. Would have lots of dogs and cats.

So for new this intro, we would just have the AOP dog and cat and 2 colored sleepers and 3 new women's colored tees. Two of which are here in the pet and would also use in a collection of women's tees.
